Cowboy
Land was the theme for our kids outreach, led by a
short-term ministry team from Somerset, Pennsylvania. Despite
terrible weather the week before which hampered our efforts to
pass out flyers, 24 children came - a great number for our
church! All but 3 were not-yet-Christians. The team did a great
job and the kids had a great time!

Home Assignment |
Next Missionaries |
|
In
June, we returned to the States for a
scheduled Home Assignment. We had the
privilege of spending the summer at
Edinboro Camp, a C&MA Church camp which
David attended as a child and youth. We
spoke each day with the children, youth
and adults, about the incredible need
for believers to obey Christ's command
to "GO" and declare the way of Salvation
to the millions who have not yet heard. |
As we return to the States for
a year, Richard and Janice Kropp have taken over
the responsibility at Sengendai Church. The Kropps
have spent a lifetime ministering in Japan and have
recently retired to ministry in the States. However,
since no Japanese pastor is yet available for the
Sengendai Church, Richard and Janice agreed to come
back and see the church through these very critical
final days of transition. Please pray for the Kropps
as they resume ministry in Japan. |

Enoch follows God |
|
Church-planting stage nearly complete |
“Enoch
walked with God; then
he was no more, because God took him away.”
says Genesis 5:24. (NIV) Well, we have an
Enoch, too (pictured at right). And, though
he’s not 365 years old and hasn’t been
“taken” by God, he HAS decided to walk with
God – a difficult decision for a junior high
boy in Japan.

Wow!
What a Spring! Many big issues have been
on the table for Sengendai Church plant this
year. After endless hours of prayer,
discussion seeking the Lord's direction,
many of these issues were decided at our
annual meeting on April 13. We 1)
adopted a church constitution and
bylaws, 2) elected our first elders, and
3) voted to join the Japan Alliance
Church, the national church of Japan!
For many in
the church, these were difficult
decisions. Trusting God to overcome some
unique barriers presented by the culture
of Japan was not an easy thing to do. We
thank God for unanimous votes on these
difficult issues!
Our
application to the National church has
been submitted and we eagerly await a
reply! |
