a great big map |

As we flew over the fields of the Midwest on our way to
Japan, 3-year-old Eryn looked out of the window of the plane
and yelled excitedly to mom: “Look! There’s a great big map
down there!”
Well, we followed that map – all the way to the other side
of the world, and about 12 hours later we arrived in Japan!
The flight went as smoothly as one could ask – with three
little ones. Josiah got airsick and lost his breakfast at
the end of the flight, but we were prepared this time with 2
changes of clothes.
Jill Landaw, a new missionary to Japan, met us at the
airport and helped us push our 10 giant suitcases and pull
our 3 tiny kids through the airport and get us on the bus –
a huge help!
I don’t know how many times in the last days Evangeline or I
have said: “Isn’t it great to be back!” It really is. It is
good to be where you know God wants you to be – wherever
that may be. It was good to be in America for the last year
and a half; and it is good to be back in Japan. Over the
last year and a half, God has led us in some unexpected
ways, including 6 extra months in the States. At times, we
couldn’t look out the window and see the giant map below us.
“Where is God taking us?” we wonder. And yet as followers
of the Good Shepherd, we have the assurance that He will
lead us where we should go, if only we will follow. And it
is a good path – always.
