“Tower
mansions (Japanese for “apartment”) used to be for the
rich…,” says an article in the International Herald Tribune.
“Now,” the article continues,” some of the newer tower
mansion projects are including cheaper apartments, 80 to 90
square meters that sell for less than 500 million yen.”
Before you run off to your real estate agent, let me
translate that for you. You get an 800 square-foot high-rise
apartment for only 4.5 million dollars. “Cheap” is relative
in Japan.
Speaking of which… Sengendai Church is beginning to run out
of space. We currently rent one floor of an office building,
but we are beginning to discuss building plans. Several
other Alliance churches are at the same stage. For a church
of 30-50 people, this is quite a step of faith, but having a
permanent building is very important for validation in
Japanese society. Would you pray that God would clearly
direct and do something “big” – for HIS glory? |
