Konnecting with the Kindervaters in Japan

Hi! Are you enjoying the beautiful fall? We are. It is sunny and in the 70s each day here in Tokyo… wonderful!

Just as fall was starting, Sengendai Church had a one-night church camp. We invited the president of the national Church, Rev. Itoh, to come and talk with us about the process of joining the Japan Alliance Church and transitioning from American missionary leadership to Japanese pastor leadership.

A good group from the church escaped the city and headed an hour north for the night. Everyone enjoyed the trees fresh air. Sunday evening and Monday morning were spent in discussion and the late night was spent in… the outside hot spring baths, of course!

The transition from the mission to the national church involves some structural changes and of course, the transition from a missionary to a Japanese pastor.  As with any change, there is some uncertainty and apprehension on the part of the people, but we trust that God will work these out and we thank Him for how far He has lead the Sengendai Church.

Thank you for your support and prayer.
