We wobble but we don’t fall down (?)
Reading a science magazine the other day, I ran across an
interesting index. It was the natural disaster risk index
for the cities of the world. A German insurance company had
created the index, assumedly in an attempt to calculate the
risk of issuing insurance in various locations.
The countdown…
#2 with 167 points is… San Francisco.
#1 with a whopping 710 points is…. Tokyo!
(Maybe this explains why we were denied life insurance
J.)
In the last 5 years, we have had 93 earthquakes with a
magnitude of 5.0 or greater and “the big one” is yet to
come, they say. But then, we don’t have tornados or weeks
without electricity because of blizzards, so maybe it all
even out in the end. It serves to remind us that tomorrow is
not guaranteed; and that God holds our future.
