Pursued | Kapsule

Eitaro walked through the doors of our church at Christmas last year. Until that day, he new virtually nothing about Christ or the Bible. As a high school student, he had purchased a Bible, read the first 18 verses of Matthew, and put it away. That was 45 years ago.

Suddenly, as he decorated a Christmas tree last December, Eitaro remembered that Christmas had SOMETHING to do with Christianity, though he was not sure what. He also remembered that some time ago, he had noticed a Christian Church near where he used to live. And so, under the strong leading of our persistent heavenly Father, Eitaro made his way to Sengendai Church last December.

As he sang the hymns, read the Bible and listened to the message that day, he couldn't help but cry. Something rang true; there was something almost nostalgic about it - although it was all new. He had finally found the God who had pursued him for more than 45 years.

In the next 7 months, Eitaro missed Sunday worship only one time. He shows up 45 minutes early to quiet his heart, and stays late into the afternoon for Bible study.

Eitaro is a successful, proper, diligent business man.  And yet, hidden deep within is a story of broken relationships and a broken heart.  Eitaro has met the One who died to reconcile men to God and to one-another. He has met His Savior, and was baptized on July 16th.
